Can you get a job over the summer while traveling? There are plenty around and many aimed at travelers specifically. Organize your work permit and check out the local paper for jobs for travelers. You’ll be amazed at what kind of work you can find to do.

1. You could become an au pair or nanny. There are many opportunities to look after people’s other kids while traveling. Try England, South Africa or Australia for starters.

Tourism is one of the largest service sectors of Singapore. As of 2007, the tourism industry contributed 3% to Singapore’s GDP, and generated US$ 9.4 Billion in tourism receipts. This clearly shows the important role tourism industry plays in Singapore’s economy. To ensure that tourism remains a key economic pillar, a bold target, Tourism 2015, was unveiled in the year
2005. The major objectives of the initiative are to triple tourism receipts to US$ 30 Billion, doubling visitor arrivals to 17 Million, and creating an additional 100,000 jobs in the services sector by 2015, according to “Opportunities in Singapore Tourism Industry (2007-2009)”.

With the holidays now in full swing, there’s a tendency to want to relax and put your job search activities on the back burner. Many job seekers think that employers have stopped any hiring they might be considering and will ramp up in the New Year. If you buy into that, you’re missing 6-8 valuable weeks of search time. I recently helped a job seeker with interviewing preparation. She beat out 20 other applicants and got her permanent position right before Thanksgiving. She even got paid for the holiday time off even though she’d only been there for a week.
